MYNAME is back with a cute and colorful new concept! The group has returned with the song, ‘Too Very, So Much‘
This group has always been in rough waters with me, personally. I have wanted to enjoy their music, but their slightly depressing music video concepts always struck me the wrong way. I always appreciated their talent, but their music video concepts always overloaded me with feelings. I have always been emotional, so their videos always hit me hard.
Fans online have stated that this new comeback has been their best since ‘Message‘, which was their debut song. The introduction of their new album will help give them a fresher image. This album fits the sound of the current music styles, bringing them back into the limelight. With the hype that was behind this comeback, they really nailed it.
This most recent comeback has changed my entire image of them. I saw them as a ballad group. This fresh image would make the listener see them in a larger light, as a group who is able to skip across multiple genres and produce amazing music. These boys are definitely pole vaulting up the favorites list
The music video itself, which was released in both the original and dance version, fit the sound of the song so well. If there was any other way to make the two components fit better, I was unable to see it. The relaxed, upbeat, hip hop inspired sound blended smoothly with the color palette of the video. The palette consisted of black and white with splashes of color in various places like wall art, articles of clothing, and random objects that were placed strategically throughout the sets.
MYNAME showcased their silly sides as they followed a woman around. The song was about a man who is whole-heartedly captivated by a woman, so much so that it might just be ‘too much’. Love at first sight. Dance in moderation seemed to be their approach tho this video, which was a nice visual break from the video’s plot line. Sticking with the playful concept, the choreography was very well produced and performed. Their fun outfits helped to bring the entire construction together.
All-in-all, I believe this was a very successful comeback and the song itself can easily get stuck in your head. I wouldn’t mind humming this to myself at work, or anywhere else.
