Leader GunWoo of MyName has stepped into the Japanese market as a soloist with his first single. Produced, written, and composed by Gunwoo himself, ‘I Am 27’ is the first album released by a member of MyName. The album does not officially drop until the end of January but in Japanese fashion, the music video has been released ahead of the anticipated album.
GunWoo debuted with MyName back in 2011 and the group has been highly successful in both Korea and Japan with a total of over 10 albums in their discography. The five member boy band debuted with ‘Message’ under H2 Media after their debut show ‘Ta-Dah It’s My Name’. The following year they would debut in Japan with the Japanese version of ‘Message’.
Finally heading into his 27th year on Earth, GunWoo is putting his hat in the ring with ‘I Am 27’. The album comes with 10 tracks and each one has GunWoo’s hand in it. The music video is very artistic showing some of the process of putting the album together while following GunWoo throughout the streets of Japan. The music of ‘I Am 27’ is a mix of strings and has a slight rock ballad feel. GunWoo’s voice is so smooth over the tempo and the whole song feels much like a theme song from a videogame or a soundtrack. Check out the music video below.
I really love this song. I have had it on repeat and anticipate the new album. Are you looking forward to GunWoo’s new album? Let us know how you felt about the song.
