‘Scarlet Heart’ Nam Joo-Hyuk will be sharing the small screen with model/actress Lee Sung- Kyung in their new drama ‘Weightlifting Fairy‘. The story is inspired by real life Olympic gold medalist Jang Mi-ran.
“Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-ju is a new coming-of-age sports drama about a young and ambitious female weightlifter, played by Lee Sung-kyung, and her stormy first love.”
Also starring in the drama is ‘Who Are You: School 2015‘ actress Jo Soo-hyang. She will be playing an up and coming rhythmic gymnast. Kyung Su-jin from ‘Bluebird’s House‘, and Lee Jae-yoon from ‘Oh Hae-young Again‘ both will also be playing rhythmic gymnasts. As for male cast members, Kim Jae-hyun from ‘Modern Farmer‘, Jo Hye-jung from ‘Cinderella and the Four Knights‘, and Jang Young-nam from ‘Dazzling Temptation‘ have all been added to the cast list.
Nam Joo Hyuk will play Jung Joon-Hyung, who is Bok-Ju’s first love. The drama is set to air in November of this year on MBC Wednesdays and Thursdays.
‘Weightlifting Fairy’ is written by Yang Hee-seung who’s works include ‘Oh My Ghostess‘, and ‘High School King of Savvy‘. It will be directed by Oh Hyun-joong who directed ‘Level 7 Civil Servant‘. We are excited to see Lee Sung Kyung transform herself into a weightlifter! This will be a dramatic change for her.
