On September 17th, boy group NCT 127 released the music video to their latest title track, ‘Sticker’. The track comes off the simultaneously dropped 3rd full album of the same name. The album contains 11 songs. However notably, members Taeyong and Mark participated in the writing the raps section of the lead single. This comeback marks their Korean unit return since May 2020 from their 2nd full album repackage, ‘Neo Zone: The Final Round’ which featured the high impact title song, ‘Punch’.
This year, the SM Entertainment act embarked on Japan promotions, releasing their 2nd Japanese EP, ‘Loveholic’. Selling over 133,000 copies, they solidified their fanbase, reaching the top of the Oricon Album Chart. The members mentioned they felt added pressure with this new Korean comeback due to their extended break and how well-received their track ‘Kick It’ was. In the hopes of demonstrating other sides of the group, ‘Sticker’ was born.
Lyrically, ‘Sticker’ discusses wanting to express their love by sticking to them. The repeated hollow flute riff that runs throughout the track acts as the glue and song’s identity. Its hip hop base mixed with a classic smooth melodic bridge, and vigorous vocals add to create a memorable listening experience unique to their previous material.
