A new rookie artist, XXXY (pronounced Jexy), has just hit the scene and his label Big Foot Entertainment, happens to also be home to veteran indie artist Ash Gray.
XXXY’s stage name is quite unique and has a very interesting meaning behind it. Apparently the name is being taken from the female (XX) and male (XY) chromosome system. XXXY plans to mix the strong masculinity of men with the delicate femininity of women in his music, bringing an interesting spin to the rap, hip-hop, and ambient music genre he plans to show the public. He hopes that his music will appeal to both men and women as well.
XXXY’s debut MV “Flower” has already gotten itself a rated 19+ warning label but his entertainment company hopes “Even though his MV was rated 19+, please look for the quality of his MV. Please look after XXXY’s growth with fondness.”
The MV features some interesting imagery from XXXY wearing a very flowery blindfold to a woman in a bathtub being stabbed painfully by thorns from branches in the bath with her. The lyrics are also quite unique and seem to have some very deep meaning to them. “The woman who is tired of life, And a pained flower that resembles her, A woman who sells flowers” is part of the chorus refrain.
XXXY may seem familiar to some people, though it’s been 6 years since he was last in the lime light. His real name is Kim Jisang (a ’90 liner) and he is a former member of disbanded kpop group XING. XING as some of you may or may not know had many member changes before it’s final disbanding including Kevin from U-Kiss, Yong Junhyung from B2ST and all the members of The Boss.
Make sure to give his debut MV a look and let us know what you think of this rookie in the comments! Hopefully he will see just as much success as his former group mates have!
