SHINee member Onew has just released his first solo title track ‘Blue’! The ‘Blue’ MV was released on Wednesday December 5th at 6:00pm KST. ‘Blue’ is the title track of Onew’s first mini album ‘VOICE’ consisting of seven tracks. These are: ‘Blue’, ‘Your Scent’, ‘Under The Starlight’, ‘Sign’, ‘Illusion’, ‘Shine On You’ and ‘Timepiece’.
Onew’s first solo title track ‘Blue’:
The MV starts off with dull blacks and blues as a soft tune emerges. Onew is sitting on his bed in the dark as he stares out into a very large window. Flows of dark blue and white clouds surround him with rays of bright light shining through. A shooting star catches Onew’s attention before he sets off to follow it. Onew is surrounded by water and as he walks, encountering a balloon-like tank containing a few fish, a glass case with a single white rose and blindfolded people. The shooting star which Onew had been following or possibly had been following him, falls into his hands. It reveals itself to be a crystal-like object that shines.
The MV ends with how it started suggesting a never-ending cycle. ‘Blue’ carries a deeper meaning with symbolism as an important aspect in it. Feelings of loneliness and being lost are significant themes in ‘Blue’. Onew conveys this emotion through the desperation in his deep voice and sorrowful expressions. His deep and at times thunderous voice gives off a sad and mournful vibe. Onew’s soothing vocals acts as a source of comfort to listeners.
The oldest SHINee member will be enlisting to serve in the military on the 10th of December. Onew has stated that ‘VOICE’ is his present to fans.
