Mnet’s new survival show, ‘Produce 101’ has announced the addition to three more mentors to join MC and mentor, Jang GeunSuk. The show takes 101 trainees from 46 agencies from Korea and beyond, and will create a special eleven member girl group who will release an album under CJ E&M Entertainment for an entire year.
Brown Eyed Girl’s JeA will lend her talents to vocal training along with Kim SungEun, while After School’s KaHi is assisting with dance next to choreographer, Bae YoonJung. Cheetah, known as the winner of ‘Unpretty Rapstar’ season 1, will be providing the tips in the rap genre.
When interviewed recently about their new roles, Jea said, “As a senior who is currently active in a girl group, I want to divulge to the trainees not only necessary vocal-related things but all of the experiences I′ve seen, heard and felt.” KaHi also added, “I′m happy to be a part of a program that brings the passion for dance, performance and music to life. I want to raise a good artist through the know-how I′ve built up through my activities up until now.” While Cheetah mentioned, “This was a year in which idols and hip-hop drew attention, and I′m taking part in this with the hope that more idol rappers will be born and receive attention next year.“
‘Produce 101’ is a large-scale idol group producing project in which the public “produces” a unit girl group, from choosing which members will debut from the 98 trainees, as well as the group′s concept, debut song and group name. Three trainees have already withdrawn due to personal reasons. They have also officially revealed all contestants.
I look forward to seeing this show, which is already being recorded but will not air until mid-January. Are you interested in this idea? Let us know!
