The popular Produce 101 contestant’s label has confirmed that he will be making his debut as a solo artist
Kim Samuel ranked 5th in the last elimination before the finale, but ultimately did not place high enough to debut as a member of Wanna One.
However, before the final episode of Mnet‘s hit survival show aired rapper and founder of Brave Entertainment, Brave Brothers announced that if Samuel did not make it into the group he would instead be beginning preparations for his solo debut.
In an interview with MBN Star, Brave Brothers said:
We have already recorded ten songs for Samuel’s solo. They are public-friendly, pop-like tracks with boyish vibes that sound like a mix between Chris Brown and Justin Bieber.
Brave producers have been working on this album for Samuel for a long time. He is a guy who has the potential to shake up the world.
Before entering Produce 101 Season 2, Samuel had previously been a member of 1Punch under Brave Entertainment. The hip hop duo disbanded less than a year after debuting, with the second member signing with YG Entertainment. Prior to this Samuel also trained with Seventeen, but did not debut with the group.
Despite only being 15 years of age, Kim Samuel has already had his share of ups and downs in the K-Pop industry. In an otherwise unforgiving business, it is certain that Samuel will have a lot of support from the fans he gained through Produce 101!
