On January 9th, Prosecution demanded a ‘four year’ prison sentence for former Sechs Kies member, Kang Sung Hoon, based on charges of fraud.
The prosecutors supported their request by claiming that Kang Sung Hoon failed to pay his debts numerous times.
However, Kang Sung Hoon’s lawyer argued: “[He borrowed money] for a business related to the Korean wave; he didn′t intend to swindle the money. He is currently reflecting upon himself while performing at military morale performances and doing volunteer work at churches.”
The singer explained himself: “I want to sincerely apologize for causing such trouble. My family has become financially unstable due to this incident. I must care for my mother and little sister. If you give me a chance, I wish to return to my career with the K-Pop content boom blowing through the world. Please show me favorable treatment.”
Kang Sung Hoon was first charged in 2010 by three men for swindling about 1 Billion Won. He was arrested back in March of 2012, but was released on September 4th after he expressed he was willing to repay the money.
The judge announced the final verdict will be given on January 23th.
