Just before his flight to New York, PSY took his time to share his plans for future promotions to the media outlets.
The artist said he is “very happy” that “Gentleman” landed on number 5 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart. He added: “It′s better than I thought; I didn′t think the song would be successful, but I′m so happy it has been.”
PSY commented: “They say it′s not as successful as “Gangnam Style”, but actually in America you need to plan over longer periods of time compared to Korea. “Gangnam Style” was popular for over three months, so you have to be patient with “Gentleman” also. It had been rising on the iTunes charts, but recently it fell out of the top 10. I was lucky. In America, it takes over a month to count televised appearances and radio schedules. I′ll work hard there.”
He then revealed what are his plans for the American promotions: “I believe [my first appearance] will be on “The Today Show” to take place at the Rockefeller Center in New York on May 1st. “The Today Show” means a lot to me,” and later explained: “I first performed “Gangnam Style” on “The Today Show”. I′m happy to be going back with a new song. It feels different from how I felt for “Gangnam Style”, but I will launch my official promotions with a happy start.”
PSY will be promoting his new song in America, Europe and Asia and has not have plans to comeback to Korea anytime soon.
