On April 13th, PSY held his “Happening” Concert in Seoul’s World Cup Stadium. It was streamed live on YouTube from his official channel to thousands of viewers as he debuted his dance. The choreography to “Gentleman” was based off traditional Korean culture. The single, “Gentleman” was released one day prior to its performance debut.
At the beginning of the concert, “Gentleman” was unveiled onstage to a full arena and an estimated 142,000 online viewers. The enthusiastic crowd sang along as the music blasted through the speakers. During the concert, YouTube provided English subtitles for international fans who were also watching.
A little while later, they began showing clips of him from last year during the “Gangnam Style” phenomenon.
Finally, the man himself came out and performed his hit from 2o1o, “Right Now“, to an enthusiastic crowd singing along with him.
Next, he performed, “Celebrity“, then “It’s Art” from his album, “Psyfive“. Afterwards, he gave a speech to his fans about his experience with the last year with his fame.
Then he began performing, “What Would Have Been“, which featured newcomer, Lee Hi, followed by his debut single, “Bird” from “Psy from the Psycho World“.
Afterwards, he began “All Night Long“, with the crowd singing along as he danced energetically alongside his backup dancers.
He then dedicated, “In My Eyes” to the ladies, whom he referred to as, “his sisters”.
The crowd sang along as he began, “I’m a Guy Like This“, by DJ Doc, followed by 2NE1 performing “I Am The Best” in designs by Jeremy Scott. This was followed by the ladies performing, “Can’t Nobody“.
PSY returned to the stage to perform, “Shake It“, and “Father”, followed by “Urbanite“.
“To all the fans watching via YouTube,” he addressed the fans, “My first big dream was to be a composer, I want to show that I can do other things, not just singing and rapping.” He then performed, “Thrilled“, a song he wrote himself.
A sign on the big screen said that he dedicated his next song to Beyonce, titled, “Single Lady“. He came out in a tight red number and danced to her song as her video played in the background with his face on her head to the delight of the fans.
G-Dragon of BIGBANG then came out and performed, “One Of A Kind“, and “CRAYON/Fantastic Baby“.
A notice came upon the screen about a “surprise”, before PSY returned to the stage with “Paradise“, and asked for audience participation, and to the crowd’s delight he flew over the crowd on wires.
After making a heartfelt speech to the crowd, he gave an emotional performance of, “Goose’s Dream“.
Next, PSY debuted the music video for his new single, “Gentlman”, featuring Ga In of BEG and members of “Infinity Challenge“. The dance is reminiscent of BEG’s “Abracadabra” dance, and “Gangnam Style” rolled into one. Afterwards, he came onstage and performed it live for the crowd.
The final two songs he performed were, “We Are the One” and “Gangnam Style”. You can check out the new music video for Gentleman here!
