On February 16th, International Korean Pop sensation “Psy” successfully held his first show in Manila, performing his Gangnam Style in front of thousands of Filipino fans at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The event had jam-packed spectators which would be a solid evidence that Psy’s one-night-only concert in Manila has really got fans wanting to see his live performance of his hit song.
Several Koreans and thousands of Filipino fans were seen on the event. At around 6 p.m., Psy arrived at the Coral Way Blue gates with a maroon sports car and was chased by fans armed with cameras.
Local Performers
Local comedian, Ai-Ai de las Alas, opened the concert for Psy. She mesmerized the audiences with her golden wardrobe as she sang Rihanna’s “Where have you been,” followed by a dance of remixed renditions including Madonna’s “Like a Virgin”. After a few technical problems, she sang and danced Wonder Girl’s “Nobody” and a song of 2NE1.
The crowd went louder as they heard a laugh from Jose Manalo, as he enter with fellow comedian Wally Bayola. Both comedians spiced up the energy of the crowd as they performed.
Psy’s Performance
At around 11 p.m., Psy’s appearance made everyone screamed at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The International superstar invited the participation of fans by saying his moves would depend on how people would react. His first two songs made the fans jump and shook the Arena.
Introducing his third song titled “Paradise”, he requested that the lights should be focused on the members of the audience who were not jumping to the beat.
Psy asked to turn off the lights for his next song. He then announced to do the Gangnam Style, which he said was the reason he was on the stage full of limelight. As the lights turn on again, the whole Arena was doing the Gangnam moves.
The audience requested for more so Psy repeated the Gangnam Style. This time, he requested if the audience could put down their camera phones, tablets and video cameras and join him in singing and dancing. For the first time, the Filipino audience were united with Psy in having fun at the concert.
Truly, Psy’s Concert in the Philippines is a night to remember.
