Clear Skies for Rain Regardless of Investigations

Rain will continue his comeback agenda of appearances and performances despite ongoing investigations surrounding his two years of military service as a celebrity recruit. He has already completed his Japanese Tour and a performance for the 2013 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) in Hong Kong on November 22nd. He plans to officially return to the music scene on January 6th 2014. Its been four years since his last music release. His new album will feature self-composed songs.

In conjunction with Mnet, Rain is producing  a reality program that will document his daily life and his comeback process. Rain prepared his fangirls and fanboys with a teaser that was shown at the 2013 MAMAs. The program will air sometime in December before Rain’s January album release. In addition, he is signed to star in the “The Prince,” a film directed by Brian A. Miller, costarring Bruce Willis and John Cusack.

However, in the midst of his plans, Rain is currently under investigation in regards to allegations of military misconduct. The Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the matter after receiving a complaint from an ordinary citizen. Regardless of the ongoing investigation Rain’s agency and Mnet are going forward with his planned comeback.  Rain’s management released the following statement: “On the grounds that investigations against him by the Ministry of Defense have already been concluded, and he has received probation and been discharged from military service, it will be difficult for him to receive additional punishment.”

Rain’s mandatory military service began in October 2011. He gained the celebrity soldier title in February 2012. As a soldier Rain received more attention during his time off duty. After his frequent visits with Kim Tae Hee surfaced, Rain was put on probation for violation of military conduct. In spite of many vacation days and long nights out, he did not face severe disciplinary action for the controversy in June involving other celebrity soldiers. Rain has been discharged since July.
