There has been a certain rumor going about, accusing Rain of paying people to vote for him during the 2006 TIME 100 Most Influential People of the Year award.
The story is that he paid Chinese voters who lived in the U.S to vote for him and supposedly, he made this decision when he was having some troubles with a production company involved in his North American tour at the time.
“It’s ridiculous that the number of votes Rain received for the Time 100 was fake. The hundred celebrities were selected by the world-renowned magazine Time. The process of the vote was very fair, and the vote didn’t even play a decisive role in selecting the hundred people. It’s not true that Rain hired people to vote for him. It’s also strange to question the selection criteria of the world-renowned magazine. The selection must have been done fairly. It’s ridiculous to report such a false rumor,” Rain’s spokesperson stated.
