“Boys Before Friends” is an American adaption of the Asian drama based off the manga “Boys over Flowers” written by Yoko Komio. The 16-episode American version is not having as much of a strong reaction as the original. The drama is facing a ton of criticism regarding the plot, the kindergarten like pranks/ bullying tactics within the script, the acting, as well as technical flaws such as scenes where the camera is out of focus and audio issues.
Recently KDrama Stars wrote their disregards towards the drama in their review “…so far the drama’s actors seem to have been cast by the same agency that unfortunately found the inexperienced American actors used in the opening episodes of “The Heirs.” Also Torisweettooth wrote on IMDB.com, in which the series currently has a score of 4.2/10 on its performance that, “The first episode of the very FIRST US version is making my stomach hurt. Really it’s like a college project, no not even that. It’s like a [high school] project.” Many comments on numerous social viewing sites have shown fans at odds with their support. A viewer commented “I tried to be open minded about BOF but it’s just so bad.”
One photo has been circulating around Instagram where both versions are depicted. Its captioned,“This,” “Boys Over Friends” “Will never be better then this,” the Korean version. MisterPopoTv had a lot to say in regards to the episode stating “Seriously, I can’t do it to myself and I couldn’t make it pass 8 minutes. I tried, it failed and here’s why I think they should stop while they are behind. I don’t know who can like it as I cannot find the good in it.”

At the moment the producers are currently on their third fundraiser campaign to raise $250,000 USD to complete the 16-episodes, which at the moment has 11 supporters and $0 with only 51 days to reach their goal.
