With the tagline “Boys, Be Ambitious”, CJ E&M, in conjunction with Liveworks Company, has started their auditions for their newest 25 billion won project ‘Boys 24’.
CJ E&M′s Music Business Unit announced on January 8 that they would be teaming up with the agency that houses Shinhwa’s Shin Hye Sung and Lee Min Woo, Liveworks Company, to co-produce this new project that will take twenty four male idol hopefuls and create a new kind of Hallyu wave that the industry has never seen before.
Auditions started on January 18 and will go until February 19. Those who are interested can sign up for the auditions through MNet’s recruitment page. When you apply, you will check on what position you would like – vocal, rap, dance, etc. – and then participants can upload a video showcasing their special talents.
Those accepted will go through a possibility of two rounds with the potential to move on to receive professional training and missions of all sorts before they narrow it down to the final twenty four chosen applicants. The final participants will then go through vigorous training in vocal and dance along with foreign language classes.
It has been announced that viewers will be able to watch this process through various broadcasts as the trainees are chosen. You will also be able to follow their path as twenty four finalists get ready to present live shows every day for a year in this new broadway-esque idea. Performances will be held at the Mesa Building Popcorn Hall in Myeongdong starting in August. The goal is to present a new kind of kpop show to attract more tourist and open up to a different kind of hallyu culture.

It’s hard to imagine there being a more expensive show then Mnet’s ‘Produce 101’ since it handles 101 female trainees, but I am excited to see how this will turn out. Will you be watching or will you be auditioning? Let us know!
