On March 21st, RED VELVET released the music video to their first 2022 comeback, ‘Feel My Rhythm’. It comes off the simultaneously dropped 7th mini album, ‘The ReVe Festival 2022 – Feel My Rhythm’. This marks the group’s return in approximately 7 months since their ‘Queendom’ mini album and identically named lead single.
The naming convention follows on from their original ‘Reve Festival’ album trilogy released throughout 2019. Spawning hits ‘Zimzalabim’, ‘Umpah Umpah’, and ‘Psycho’, this new title track looks to continue on the famed path. Incorporating a sample from Bach‘s arrangement, ‘Air on the G String’, the track blends classical instrumentation with trap beats to give it a more modern feel.
Watching the music video, it paints a similar concept. Starting with painted textures filling the background not different to those often found in older art pieces, it transitions into the the current box sets and green screen commonly found in today’s music scene. The girls live in their own fantasy world, dressed in graceful princess outfits, however member Seulgi is dressed in a sinister black attire, possibly depicted to be a source of evil. The end of the MV shows the group living within a massive vase on in an idyllic valley. However as a bird flies through its entrance, Seulgi stands guarding the outside.
