Red Velvet, SM’s rookie girl-group finally dropped music video for “Ice Cream Cake”, the title track for their upcoming second mini album.
This second half of their double title track along with “Automatic” and has a completely different feeling with upbeat and energetic vibe to it.
Lets check out the MV first.
The music video start with the image of tasty ice cream cake that just looks too good to be real. Like “Automatic” this one was also shot in Los Angeles. The song starts of pretty spooky with strange voices singing “la, la, la”, but when the beat drops, we see that they are no jotking this time. After they came back and announced their fifth member, the girls are slowly beginning to make their own way in kpop scene. The lyrics sound funny at some parts and sometimes inappropriate but not vulgar.
All five girls look amazing and fresh, with new hairstyles and contact lenses, sometimes it is really hard to recognize them all. For me I had mixed feelings at first, but when I heard it for the second time, it stuck in my mind and I am unconsciously singing it still. Yes, this song can do that to you.
Overall, I loved it and I hope this time around, Red Velvet receives well deserved positive attention. The girls will begin to promote the songs this week and the first stop is MCountdown on March 19, their first time on music show as a five member group.
