On April 4th, RED VELVET’s main vocalist WENDY dropped the second music video teaser to her debut title track, ‘Like Water’ that is coming off her forthcoming debut mini album of the same name. Check it out down below!
The string led instrumental flows through the teaser as we see the artist dip her feet in a tub of water. Pensively looking out the slanted stained glass window, the rain falls heavily creating a moody atmosphere. Following softly lit shot closeups of the singer, it cuts to a blue decorated hallway. Light shines through revealing her wearing a gorgeously elegant floor-length red frilled dress. As she belts the title of the track, her powerful vocals resonate through the room leading to a final close up visual to conclude the teaser.
Ahead of its release, SM Entertainment has dropped various other mood samplers indicating the ballad lead single, as well as another music video teaser that demonstrated a similar mood. The track list is set to contain five tracks including a duet with fellow same-aged group member Seulgi aptly called ‘Best Friend’. Since the quintet’s debut back in 2014, fans have been waiting and requesting for the solo debut of the talented vocalist, being regarded as one of the best in the generation. An incident in 2019’s SBS Gayo Daejeon (End of Year Festival) saw the singer heavily tumble down the stage during rehearsals, leading to her hospitalisation and recovery over the 2020 period. With the debut of another sub-unit within the girl group between members Irene and Seulgi last year with their ‘Monster’ EP and title track; now fully recovered, the songstress is ready to show her true prowess to fans and the world who have hoped for her steady recovery and wellbeing.
