The wait is almost over for Monbebes as Monsta X reaches the end of their pre-comeback schedule! The group has just released the last of their teasers in the form of of their album preview. So, let’s recap all the little gifts they’ve given us so far.
It’s been a long and interesting two weeks since Monsta X started releasing their creative and theory-inducing teasers, starting on September 22nd. The first two teasers came in the form of photos titled “Clues.”
“The Clue 1- Lost” consisted of three photos that created a link back to “THE CLAN PART 1. LOST” such as the white flower and the bottle containing a mysterious blue liquid.
The third photo was a full shot of all seven members that resembled wanted posters. Fans noticed that four of the posters were not ripped and theorized that “Part 2″ would focus on these members more than the other 3. This theory seems to make some sense, as “Part 1” focused much on Minhyuk and Hyungwon’s relationship and Shownu’s actions.
“The Clue: 2- Hope” included three monochromatic photos focusing on the members’ hands, and a ritual site that provided a link back to the similar scene as shown in the “All In” music video.
On September 24th, the idol group released a full album track list. Their 4th mini-album will contain six tracks; “Fighter“, “Be Quiet“, “Blind“, “Queen“, “White Girl (하얀소녀)” and “Roller Coaster“. Through the song credits it was revealed that Jooheon and IM were both actively involved in the production of this album.
On September 25th and 26th two short teaser clips titled “Oaths” were revealed. The first teaser video, “Oath of Hyungwon,” features member Hyungwon giving a chilling narration over scenes that gave more insight into his apparent death in “All In.” His narration was translated as follows:
“We vow to give our all to protect X CLAN. However, I let go of X CLAN. I had a beautiful dream, and at the end of that dream, we met again.”

“Oath of Minhyuk” followed the next day with an even more intense clip. Minhyuk narrates his teaser as well, revealing scenes that give a better view on his relationship with Hyungwon. The two were seemingly in an asylum before the events that led to their deaths in “All In.” Minhyuk’s narration is translated as follows:
“We lost each other. We walked a lonely path to find X CLAN, and fought constantly. And at the end of that fight, we met again. We vow to give our all to protect X CLAN.”

On September 27th, the first round of individual and group photo teasers were released on their official Twitter with a total of five sets. The first three sets of photos brought back the mysterious blue liquid and white flowers with half-shots of the members.
Even without seeing their faces, Monbebes were still somewhat able to decipher which member was which.
The next two sets of photos then changed the setting to a scrapyard and featured the members in more casual- chic outfits. This set of teasers started with a lone shot of IM, and each succeeding shot added more members into the photo.
On September 28th, the next round of teaser photos followed up on the ones released previously. The first set of teasers focused on individual shots of the members in the scrapyard setting. The photos were released in the following order: Shownu and Wonho; Minhyuk, Kihyun and Hyungwon; and Jooheon and IM.
The second set of teasers were released in the same order and featured the flowers and blue liquid that seems to be a recurring motif in this “Clan” series. Jooheon and IM’s photos featured a different filter which set them apart from the others.
The seventh, and last, set of teasers were group images, one of which featured the boys discarding what looked like their wanted posters.
After the abundance of teasers, which seemed enough for a pre-comeback photo-book, it was time for the group to reveal the title track. On September 29th, the teaser for “Fighter“ was released.
With the pre-comeback schedule coming to an end, Monsta X then released their album preview on October 1st.
“Be Quiet” and “Queen” were the tracks that immediately stood out for me due to the heavy electronic sound elements. Hyuk Shin happened to be one of the composers on both tracks so it’s no wonder those were my immediate picks since he’s previously worked with big name groups like Exo and SHINee.
But on the opposite end, “Blind” or “Roller Coaster” are serious contenders for song favorites with their more easy-going vibe. “White Girl (하얀소녀)” however, may take some time and a few repeats before I determine whether I really like it or not. As for the title tack, “Fighter“, this may sit in second place for right now. However, that may change when Monsta X officially makes their comeback.
All that’s left now is the V-Live countdown on October 3rd. Be sure to watch that before the group makes their October 4th comeback! And be sure to return here for the full mini-album review!
