KASCON has announced The Rose as the headliners for their closing ceremony concert of the 29th annual Korean American Students Conference (KASCON). KASCON 29 will be held at Northwestern University from March 16th through the 18th. The concert is scheduled for March 17, 2018 at Chop Shop & 1st Ward Events in downtown Chicago. The concert is open to everyone ages 18 and up.
KASCON is the largest and oldest student-run ethnic-specific conference in the United States. The conference has focused on strengthening the Korean-American community and continues to touch the lives of thousands of Korean-Americans since 1987. KASCON 29 conference includes workshops, speaker panels, and networking events. It features Jin Ha (from Hamilton: An American Musical and M. Butterfly), Katie Kim, Dae Lim, and more as guest speakers for the weekend. Topics will include a variety of fields including fashion, politics, and performing arts. Tickets for the conference can be found via Eventbrite.
The appearance of the four member band at KASCON 29 will be their first performance in the United States after their debut this past August. The Rose released their breakout single ‘Sorry’ on August 3, 2017 and their follow up single ‘좋았는데 (Like We Used To)’ on November 1, 2017. The band is currently in Europe for their ‘2018 Paint It Rose’ tour hosted by MyMusicTaste. The tour, which includes stops in Brussels, Moscow, Istanbul, London, and Budapest between February 16 and February 25, is the band’s first European tour.
Paige Shin, the entertainment director of KASCON 29, gave some insight into the choice of The Rose as their featured artist. “We chose The Rose as our headliner because we wanted a group that could vibe with a college-aged audience. The lead singer of the band is also Korean-American.”
Tickets for the concert are available through Eventbrite as of February 24th. There are both general admission and VIP tickets. GA tickets are $20, and VIP tickets, which includes meet and greet and group photo opportunity along with priority entry, are $65.
Doors will open at 7:30 PM, and the show will start at 8:30 PM. Don’t miss out on your opportunity to rock out to The Rose live in person!
