KARA has fought through their share of struggles this year. After their loss of two members and the controversial casting of a new member through “The Kara Project” reality show, there were serious questions about the long-term future of the group. Loyal fans of KARA were disturbed by the events and honestly, things weren’t improved with the release of the teasers for their comeback song “Mamamia.” The photos were very intriguing but the video teasers were frankly boring. There was great concern about the quality of the release given the repetitive nature of the teasers. It was even suggested that, if this was the kind of song they were going to put out, it would have been kinder to the group and to fans to just disband earlier this year.
Now that the actual video is out, fans can breathe easier. The song is very good, quite similar to the dance-floor fillers of the 70s and 80s. While the video makes too much use of lens flares, in light of the awful teasers, it’s a sin that at least I can overlook.
I have to say how impressed I am with this song. It is catchy and the video is well executed except for the over-use of the lens flare and editing effects. The ladies are done up in a way that is attractive and sexy without crossing in to trashy and inappropriate. I was not a fan of theirs before but if this is what they’ll be doing now, they’ll have a loyal Kamilla in me.
What about you? Were you a fan of theirs before? What do you think about this song? Let us know in the comments!
