On July 7th and 8th, after “Warm and Cozy” finished, the first two episodes of the highly anticipated MBC‘s Wednesday/Thursday period drama series, “Scholar who walks the Night” finally aired.
This is the third vampire based drama after “Blood” and “Orange Marmalade” that were aired recently. Vampires are a hot item in Korea right now, not that we complain.
I was always fascinated with different stories and mythologies about vampires, that world seemed scary at the beginning but not so much nowadays.
With great names like Lee Joonki, Kim Soeun, TVXQ‘s Shim Changmin, Lee Yoobi and Lee Soohyuk, this drama is sure going to be a huge hit.
The storyline itself is intriguing and the ones watching it really can’t wait for another episode to air. It’s like a torture to wait a week to see what is going to happen next.
Lee Yoobi is portraying a girl (Yo Jangsun) who comes from a collapsed noble family and has to sell books dressed up like a man, to be able to survive. In Joseon era, it was a crime, that one could get death sentence.
One day she meets with handsome scholar Kim Sungyeol (Lee Joonki) who happens to be a vampire who is on his own quest to capture the main villan of the story Lee Soohyuk’s character Gwi. Gwi is centuries old vampire, a very vicious one, but being so hot, you just can’t hate the man. He’s a great catch for this role, amazing!
TVXQ’s Changmin is playing Crown Prince Lee Yoon, very unusual character, I will need few more episodes to figure ou what is his story.
I tried not to give out spoilers for you who didn’t watch the first two episodes, if I did say a little too much I apologize.
