Hyosung apologized for the ′Democratization′ controversy once again.
Recently, the singer was involved in an issue of where she used a controversial word ‘democratization’ on the radio. The word is used negatively to put down democratization movements and caused Gwangju and netizens to believe that Hyosung was a part of it. After the incident happened, she immediately posted on her Twitter account to apologize but she seems to have contended with it. Again, she used her personal Twitter account and wrote a longer letter.
Hyosung stated, “Hello. This is Secret′s Jeon Hyosung. I am so sorry I caused concern with my careless words some time ago.
I have nothing to do with the site you are all concerned about. I just wanted to communicate with my fans, and while monitoring fan reactions I found the words ′Democratize with Jeon Hyosung′ across many forums. I did not know the exact meaning, but I figured unconsciously that it was something positive, and referred to the act of recommending something good to another person.
I learned that the word was taken out of its original meaning by a certain site after this incident occurred,” she added. “I am very regretful of the fact that I used the word ′democratization′ carelessly, failing to consider how I can strongly influence others. I also want to sincerely apologize to the bereaved families [of the 5.18 Gwangju democratization movements], who would have been hurt by my careless words. I do know that we are able to live happily now thanks to the sacrifice of those involved. I am very sorry.
I will continue to study and work hard to become a better person. I again apologize to fans who were troubled by the incident.”
Meanwhile, Secret is currently promoting their latest song “YooHoo” on various music programs.
