It’s no secret that SHINee has a large fanbase in Japan, and those Shawols have been proving their loyalty like mad this past week!
The boys reached a bit of a landmark, their recent album ““I’m Your Boy,” has hit #1 on the Oricon Weekly Chart for the first time since they debuted there four years ago. The album released on September 24th and 45,000 copies of it were sold in the first week alone. The album had already been doing well on the daily chart thus far, so the fact that it nailed the weekly spot isn’t terribly surprising. They had a close call last year with their previous Japanese full-length album, “Boys Meet U,” which held a spot at #2 on the weekly chart last June. Thankfully, this latest release was enough to propel them to the top spot.
The group has also just launched their SHINee World 2014: I’m Your Boy tour, which had its first show on September 28th, in Chiba, Japan at Ichihara City Hall. The event was sold out, and featured a live band, much to the delight of the attendees. The next leg of the tour will hit in Shizuoka, with a performance date of September 30th. The tour will continue through October and November, wrapping up in mid-December, with a grand total of 17 performances spanning all over the country.
If you haven’t heard about their latest single, “Downtown Baby,” be sure to read about it here. Unfortunately, we don’t often get full versions of the Japanese music videos, but the teaser gives us a great glimpse into the boys’ colorful new styles. Also, if you are able to get your hands on “I’m Your Boy,” do so. I give it a high recommendation!
Join us in congratulating SHINee on their #1 rank, as well as wishing them continued success on the rest of their tour!
