On July 26th, SM Entertainment revealed that their founder and former president, Lee Soo Man, would be sending the company of 350 staff as well as its singers to Hawaii for a cooperative conference in August. All the celebrities from the agency including EXO, Girls’ Generation, J-Min, Kangta, Super Junior, TVXQ and more will be attending the meeting. In order to make sure that everybody could attend, the agency had planned all of the schedules beforehand.
The conference not only represents SM Entertainment‘s 20th year anniversary, but will also be considered as a large scaled workshop. Due to the size of the conference, the agency is presently reserving a charter plane, hotels, and transportation. A informant from the agency disclosed, “Because this event holds a lot of meaning, most of the artists within SM Entertainment, as well as the staff will most likely be attending.”
However, this conference collides with the filming for the athletics championships which will take place in late August. Therefore, SM artists will be unable to participate in MBC‘s “Idol Star Athletics Championships” this Chuseok.
The Hawaii trip was scheduled since last year and the date could not be modified. It seems like fans would have to wait until the Lunar New Year athletics championships in 2017 to see SM artists compete.
In previous seasons of ISAC, numerous SM artists attracted attention with their athletic abilities. In the first episode of ISAC, SHINee‘s Minho received a gold medal for the 110 meter hurdles; other artists like Super Junior‘s Shindong, F(x)‘s Luna, and more have also received gold medals. Earlier this year at the Lunar New Year Special ISAC, EXO‘s Xiumin suffered an injury during a futsal match.
