YoonA and Taeyeon of Girls Generation have recently been making headlines for alleged photos of the 2 girls going clubbing in Hong Kong. SM Entertainment quickly stepped forward to deny the report and state that the story has been completely made up.
The original article first appeared in Hong Kong’s Apple Daily, a tabloid-style newspaper, on November 8th. The article purported that Girls’ Generation members YoonA and Taeyeon had been seen visiting a club while they were in Hong Kong. It continued that the 2 girls had been seen drinking champagne and dancing the night away till around 2 in the morning. At which time they had to have security help them out of the bar but upon seeing reporters waiting outside had attempted to leave without being seen.
SM Entertainment stated, “That (report) is totally untrue. The girls in the photos aren’t members of Girls’ Generation at all.” They continued “Our affiliate in Hong Kong are trying to ascertain the reason behind the tabloid publishing such a report. Many other media agencies in Hong Kong feel that the tabloid is trying to fabricate something that did not happen at all in the first place.”
The sentiment is that the pictures are too blurry to begin with to identify the girls, leaving many wondering why Apply Daily would report on the matter to begin with. Some speculate that in fact the magazine is attempting to start an anti-Korean Wave sentiment.
