SM Entertainment, one of the largest and most successful entertainment companies in the amazing world of KPop, has recently joined forces with Samsung Corporation. The joint venture is being called S-Cube (S³) (with Samsung being involved, are we surprised that it begins with an ‘S?’). This venture is being described as a way to give back to the communities that have helped both companies be successful giants in their respective industries, technology for Samsung, and entertainment for SM. So, what does S-Cube mean? According to the source article, it means Samsung x SM x Society. Makes sense, right?
SM Entertainment chairman Lee Soo Man had the following to saying during a press conference announcing the joint venture, “I’m happy to see that we will be able to contribute back to the community on a global scale through this venture and repay all the love we received from fans and the public. We will play our part with Samsung to make the world a happier place by utilizing the capabilities and resources of SM Entertainment.”
Plans for this new venture include the creation of a SM Study Centre, where artists, directors, composers, and producers from SM will teach kids from less fortunate places subjects such as dancing, music, and other related areas. Samsung will also contribute to the project its various education programs and will also be providing staffing resources as well.
Also at the event was Samsung’s President of Corporate Citizenship, Seo Joon Hee, SM Entertainment stars Sulli, of f(x), SM Entertainment President, Kim Yong Min, and Yunho of DBSK.
