For the very first time as all nine members, Girl’s Generation landed a spot on the Billboard 200 with new EP, “Mr. Mr” The girls’ song hit #110 on the list, selling already over 3,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
This record surpasses the previously highest-charting K-Pop album that has been on the Billboard 200 – the “Twinkle” EP from TTS (TaeTiSeo). This trio consisting of member Taeyeon, Tiffany and Seohyun hit #126 back in 2012, with 3,000 copies sold, being the sub-unit that held the title for the highest charting K-Pop album, until this week – impressive!
Not only was the success a win for U.S K-Pop fans, it also marked big sales.
Also on the Billboard charts, the group send all of the EP’s tracks to this week’s K-Pop Hot 100. “Mr. Mr.” ranks at #5, “Goodbye” at #23, “Wait a Minute” at #43, “Back Hug” at #62, “Europa” at #64 and “Soul” at #83. The girls hold the title of two #1s on this chart; in 2013 with “I Got a Boy” and 2011 with “The Boys“.
On Billboard’s World Digital Songs chart, “Mr. Mr” hit the $4 spot.
