One of K-pop’s most under-rated groups has made a comeback with the release of their 5th mini-album ‘Blossom‘ and the title track ‘Tulips‘.
‘Tulips‘ is a romantic confession song that combines elements of house and hip-hop. The lyrics are about confessing to your loved one and telling them that like a tulip they are pure and charming.
The beginning of the track might make you cringe with its spoken ‘Tulips, your lips, Oh My‘, but push on through, I promise it gets better!
The synth that keeps on throughout the track gives the song an interesting quality and when it’s combined with the bass line, the song has a freshness and vitality to it that wasn’t expected. The instrumental choices that have been introduced into the song combine to provide a groove that is fun and vibrant. The transition from the bridge into the final refrain is fresh and right on the mark. The difference in tones from verse to pre-chorus to the chorus and back are what makes the song so interesting and completely listenable.
Suhyun and Sangil almost steal the song with their amazing vocals, but they don’t quite get the chance with all the members contributing in a strong vocal performance.
The clip is pretty much a performance video and that’s a great thing because we get lots of SNUPER visuals to feast on while listening to the track.
