Core Contents Media has voluntarily requested for 19+ classification for SPEED‘s “Sad Promise” MV from the South Korean Committee to Media Censorship.
The MV is based on the backdrop of Gwangju Democratization Movement in 1980, containing riot scenes such as gunfire and forceful suppression of protests. This prompted SPEED’s agency to apply for the classification.
The MV stars Park Bo Young, Ji Chang Wook, Ha Suk Jin and A Pink‘s Son Na Eun to tell the heart wrenching story of love and friendship between four young men and women during the period. Besides that, The cast also includes skilled actors Kim Young Ho, Jung So Young and Choi Ji Yeon.
The Gwangju Democratization Movement, occured from May 18 to 27, 1980, was a citizen’s uprising against Chun Doo-hwan’s military dictatorship. The uprising ended with crushing of protests by the South Korean army with an estimated death toll up to 2000.
A teaser video for the MV will be revealed on December 31.
