It has been announced that Spica‘s Park Joo Hyun will be promoting under the name of Park Shi Hyun from now on.
According to her agency, B2M,”Joo Hyun has been called as Shi Hyun since her childhood. Because her parents originally wanted a son so they thought of the name Joo Hyun in advance and then registered as her name when she was born. But now she wants to promote under her real name so she decided to change it. Since she has been promoting as Park Joo Hyun for 3 years so it will be a little strange at first to see her under a new name. She promises to continue working harder so please give her a lot of support.“
It is always a little bit weird when K-Pop idols change their stage names after many years, like when SECRET‘s Zinger changed her name to Hana in 2013, or when Wonder Girls‘ Yenny debuted solo under the name HA:TFELT this year.
In Joo Hyun’s case, however, it has a deeper meaning, since she’ll start using her real name instead of the one her parents originally wanted to give her.
Do you think her new stage name fits her well? We from Officially Kmusic agree that the best name for Joo Hyun (or should I say Shi Hyun now?) is the one that she feels better with.
