Sunggyu Hilariously Argues with Hoya over Popularity

INFINITE members Sunggyu and Hoya hilariously discussed the rising popularity of Hoya, especially ever since the latter starred in the popular drama ‘Reply 1997.’

All seven INFINITE members were guests on the April 8th episode of ‘Beatles Code 2,’ and during the show, Sunggyu was asked by the MCs, “I heard you told Hoya ‘You’re not an actor’, is this true?”

Sunggyu explained that as a leader, he had to keep the members passionate about their origins, and keep them humble, as there are many celebrities that are infused in both the acting and music industry.

The MCs asked Hoya, “Did you ever think to yourself ‘Oh, I’m an actor now’?”  to which he denied and said that even after gaining success from the drama, he didn’t think of himself differently. Sunggyu challenged that with a “Huh?” and the MCs continued, “But it doesn’t seem like Sunggyu would have said those things to you for no reason.”

Sunggyu stated, “Hoya had his first solo CF after the drama. It was practically the first time that any of the INFINITE members had a solo CF. I think there was a bit of change after that. The look in his eyes became different.”

Hoya shot back, “I started developing more self-confidence then.” Shindong interfered, suggesting, “So you got more confident, but you haven’t changed?” to which Hoya smartly replied, “Everyone changes.”

The MCs asked for more reasons that proves Sunggyu is just issuing a friendly reminder to Hoya, not jealous of a fellow member’s popularity, and Sunggyu named a situation, “Oh, there was a time when our manager ranked the members he disliked, and Hoya was ranked as the member he disliked the most.”

Hoya responded, “No hyung, that member was you,” and Sunggyu was shocked as he questioned the other members, “Oh, that was me? I don’t remember!”  Bringing laughter on set.

Sunggyu then called a truce by saying, “To be honest, I’m happier than anyone that Hoya did well,” and the two INFINITE members happily shook hands.
