Sungha Jung was born on September 2, 1996 in South Korea. His dream is to become a professional acoustic fingerstyle guitarist, and now he is known all over the world through his covers he upload to his official YouTube channel. As of May 2013, his channel has over 671 million views and more than 1, 750, 000 subscribers.
It typically takes Sungha 3 days to learn and practice a new piece, record his new learned song, and uploading it to YouTube. He also plays a variety of guitar pieces that cover a broad range of genres. Sungha used to not have tabs for the music that he played in his videos, but recently, he started to play with original tabs whenever they are available to him by courtesy of the authors.
Sungha has won quite a lot of awards on YouTube, including 6 “#1” awards. He was also featured on Narsha’s solo album “NARSHA”. In 2011 he acted in the Korean movie, “The Suicide Forecast”, as Ahn Hyeok. In 2012, he did a collaboration with 2NE1. Together they performed acoustic versions of “Lonely” and “I Love You”. He also participated in a live stage with BIGBANG’s G-Dragon and performed “That XX”.
His debut album was titled “Perfect Blue”. He released his 2nd album, “Irony” on September 21, 2011, while his latest album “Paint It Acoustic” came out on April 15, 2013.
This year, he is having his solo tour in places like Thailand, Macau, New York, Singapore, Malaysia and more. This coming June 14th and 15th, his solo tour will take place in the Philippines. On June 14th he will be performing at the JCentre Convention Hall, Mandaue City, Cebu, while on June 15th he will visit the Newport Performing Arts Theatre, Resorts World, Manila.
