Sunye Gives A Little Insight into Her Hectic World As A Mom and Wife

She may be a wonder mom and wife, but Sunye will always be Wonder Girls‘ leader!

In a rare media based appearance since her transition into motherhood and marriage, Sunye sat down on September 15th on the CBS Radio show ‘Kim Hyun Jung’s News Show‘ and talked about life now and uncertain future all the way from Oregon where she’s currently visiting. During their chat, the show’s host Kim Hyun Jung asks Sunye a series of questions like, “What attracted her to her husband” in which she replied with a laugh “Well, I wondered if God blinded me by love back then. We met in the missionary field in Haiti, and I suddenly had these thoughts. It was like I saw my future together with him, it was that kind of vague feeling. Of course, I didn’t know at the time that it would actually turn out like that.”

The host then followed up if she was no longer blindsided by cupid’s arrow when it comes to her husband of two years James Park, without a second thought she answered, “Of course, but all couples are like that, As we look at the good and the bad, we’re considerate of each other, love each other, and understand each other.”

The chat then moved onto motherhood and how she’s handling it, as some fans may know Sunye’s mother passed away when Sunye was four years old and was raised by her grandparents since then. Kim Hyung Jung asked her what it felt like to be called “mom” by her daughter since it’s possible she may not remember. Sunye gave a heart felt response saying “It feels like I have everything in the world.” Kim Hyun Jung lightened the moment by asking, “Was she sure since they can be a hassle. Still, taking care of children and running a household isn’t easy. You take care of your house yourself, right?” The expectant mother answered,“That’s right, it’s still hard. It’s harder than work. All mothers are so amazing.”

During the interview Sunye revealed motherhood is harder than being an idol and dancing in heels hours as a time,“When I was working, there were periods where I could rest. I could sleep at night too. But since my daughter is about two years old now, she wakes up a lot in the night. It’s 24 hours a day, you have to be next to them 24 hours a day. So mothers really don’t have much time to rest because their lives are always just being right next to their children.” The host then asked her that one question any mother, no matter how old she is or happy and that is if she had regrets, Sunye confidently but thoughtfully answered, “I really have never had regrets. Of course there are times when it’s tiring, but when I watch my daughter as she grows, I’m so proud and grateful.”

Kim Hyun Jung then commented on the very thing all fans have been wondering and that is her rumored exit out of the industry and that she is no longer a part of Wonder Girls. Sunye had finally put the rumors to rest stating, “In fact, it’s not true that I retired from the entertainment industry,” Sunye clarifies. “If there’s another opportunity in the future that arises where I can put on a good performance, I think I could do that any time.”

Sunye also revealed that if the opportunity ever came up she wouldn’t mind reuniting on stage with her members on top of that revealed that on the bonus track that her and her daughter featured, both her and Sohee were chatting with the other members. Sunye is still very close to her members and is grateful for them. Even though Sunye wasn’t a part of the group’s ‘Reboot‘ comeback she told the host that she hasn’t stopped cheering on her group and supporting them wholeheartedly at music shows and over social media.

It’s good to hear Sunye is doing great and that she is still involved with her members as though they are sisters. The interview was very genuine and humble, it does give fans hope that a reunion will be somewhere in the future, but not now since she is expecting her second child with her husband. Sunye is enjoying a simple quiet life, but at the same time giving back making her a true idol to look up too.

Must be cool to have your mom be an idol. Who know’s maybe Sunye’s daughter will be the next generation.
