Teasing his fans seems to come naturally to Super Junior’s Yesung, who has shared little glimpses behind the scenes of his latest drama ‘Voice‘.
Taking to his Instagram, Yesung has been showing his playful personality whilst doing his duty of promoting the hit OCN drama ‘Voice’. Although his interactions are through images, it seems fans are thankful for the updates, with many noting how much he has grown as an actor, and how handsome and happy he looks being on the set.
Within the show Yesung plays the part of an emergency service call center operator by the name of Oh Hyun Ho. At first his part was small but meaningful, bringing some comedic relief to a very serious drama. But in recent episodes Yesung’s character had a major role to play in the storytelling. Having to act like he had taken hallucinogenic drugs, the story centered on the trials and troubles his character was facing.
In a recent interview with news outlet Star News, Yesung revealed what he had to go through to realistically portray his characters situation.
“It was really hard. I did basically anything I could besides actually taking the drug. I went to the filming site after getting almost no sleep, forgetting that I had other scenes to shoot afterwards. So I wasn’t in my right mind, and my eyes were half closed. Before shooting, I studied Bradley Cooper in “Limitless” and Shia LaBeouf in “Charlie Countryman” and tried to copy them. I even tried drooling. It was hard but fun, and I learned a lot from it.”
When asked about the recent uproar about the current rating of the drama with its realistic gore content and violence, Yesung replied,
“I think it’s fine. If you look closely, we don’t actually show everything. I’m more sad about the age rating, and sometimes I wish we could just get an R rating and show more explicit scenes. Some say that our drama is similar to “Signal“, but I think it’s closer to the movie “The Chaser“.”
The drama is an intense rollercoaster ride of fast paced emotional action with added realistic stories. ‘Voice’ is smashing the viewership ratings as the story deepens and edges ever closer to a conclusion. The drama is currently on episode 10 and airs every Saturday and Sunday.
