Block B‘s Taeil just released his first digital single and music video for “Shaking.”
When we first see the female lead she is happy, smiling, brings our guy coffee even. Then she gets a phone call. Oh the dreaded “break up” phone call. So the male lead becomes overcome with emotion and kisses the female lead. Female lead panic and leaves, which leaves male lead heartbroken. But you know what, at least he took a chance. Just look at the lyrics, the poor guy was going to go nuts if he did not.
I want to hug you.
I want to hold you.
I’ve always been looking at you.
The music video follows the lyrics in excellent visual representation. The music video itself shot as a POV from Taeil or whoever the unseen male lead is. It’s this look that adds to feel of the song.
To the average K-Pop fan, Block B is a group of goofy guys that release fun songs and music videos. That is true, but only if you never go beyond those songs. If you were to dive deeper in to the groups musical catalog, you will discover one of the best and underrated voices in K-Pop. That voice belongs to Taeil. He gets left out often when discussions get brought up about the best singer in Korean music and that is a shame. Taeil’s voice and tone is perfect for this song, it is full of emotion, and I cannot think of anyone else who could do a better job.
