Taemin, the power-house maknae of SHINee has been riding high on his successful solo debut called “Danger“ for the last few weeks and has finally let fans see a dance rehearsal! Hardcore fans of SHINee will understand how rare of an occasion this is, we rarely get to see these rehearsals. In this case, the experience of seeing the choreography without the added scenes from the video is dimmed by the fact that the dance is, to be blunt, underwhelming.
The ability to see our idols just dancing, without any distractions, is the best gift a K-Popper can get. It really gives us a chance to appreciate all the hard hours of work they put in to their craft. For those of us with a favorite member, the minimal camera changes give us an unrestricted view of our favorites in action that we don’t always get. If you’re a dancer or a lover of dance, it is an opportunity to see some of the toughest and most precise choreography in the world executed the way it should be. This is what makes it so hard when a dance practice lets you down.
I am a huge SHINee fan and I like the song, don’t think this is me hating Taemin or not appreciating his skills and work ethic. This is my disappointment with the choreography chosen for this song. SHINee consistently has some of the most amazing and innovative choreo so to see Taemin doing something that was so obviously beneath his skill level was disappointing. I understand that there’s a distinct possibility that this is a bridge number for his solo set: one that allows him to rest and so it needs to be slower and easier. However, watching this video makes me feel like he’s teaching a class on basic K-Pop dance. It is rarely the case, but I prefer the regular version of the video to this version.
What about you? Do feel like I do, or do you love the dance for this song? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
