On August 17, entertainer Tim Hwang posted a video on his Facebook page of himself participating in the popular “Ice Bucket Challenge,” which helps raise awareness about ALS. Along with his participation, he issued a challenge to Super Junior’s Siwon as well. Siwon, being the good sport he is, said “challenge accepted!”
ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a degenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. In an attempt to raise awareness, people from all over the world have been participating in the challenge, dumping buckets of ice water over themselves for charity. It has spread to South Korea, and many idols are participating.
On August 18, Siwon responded to Tim Hwang’s request, taking to his Twitter account and saying, “Of course. Just wait a little hyung.” Shortly thereafter, Siwon posted videos of the completion of his challenge on both his Twitter and Instagram accounts. He filmed himself in Hong Kong with fans all around, and when finished, nominated fellow Super Junior members Donghae and Eunhyuk to complete it next, as well as Park Sungil.
