Gong also had expressed his interest in being in the sequel, but the director had other ideas:
“I talked about this with director Yeon Sang-Ho, I said that I thought my character Seok-Woo might be living somewhere as a zombie, but director Yeon said that when Seok-Woo fell off the train, he broke his neck and died.”
The director has also been said to have multiple plot ideas for the new addition to the franchise, one of which focuses on the aftermath of the zombie destruction. While the pre-production of the film begins, other countries are in talks about making their own version of the massive hit.
The United States and France have both shown interest, noticing the attention the film has received. Reports have indicated that both France and the United States are the top two in talks with making a remake of the film. The film alone has grossed $124, 345,967 worldwide.
