On August 7th, YG Entertainment‘s newest boy group, TREASURE, debuted with their 1st single album, ‘BOY’ with the release of its MV for the same named track. Check it out down below!
TREASURE ‘BOY’ MV:
The song’s lyrics simply describe a boy wanting to be someone’s boy. They want the girl to reach out their hand, open their heart, treasure them. In contrast to the innocent lyrics, the track has a harder hitting beat with a synth drop into the chorus. A dance break is matched with instrumental breakdown towards the bridge of the track, before finishing with a resounding outro to finish.
Looking at the MV, it focuses heavily on showing off the choreography of the track. The main set shows a huge soccer field that lights up with fireworks by the end of video. The dance routine itself is energetic , and sharp, made to look more impactful with the group having many members (12).
TREASURE is YG Entertainment‘s first boy group since the debut of IKON in 2015. It is thus the first group to debut under the company since girl group, BLACKPINK did in 2016. There has been lots of hype for the group’s debut not only because it comes from one of the Big 3 labels, but due to the many delays the group experienced with the group’s debut date, and overall excitement since the group’s formation on the company’s survival show, ‘YG‘s Treasure Box’. The group has also been named as the best selling rookies of 2020 so far, with pre-orders of the single album exceeding 150,000.
