Turbo, one of the hottest K-Pop duos of the 90s is coming back as a trio! For their 20th anniversary, Kim JongKook announced on his Instagram that he had been filming for 40 hours for Turbo’s newest single.
In the picture was himself with members Kim JungNam, and Mikey, neither who were in Turbo at the same time together.
Turbo started off in 1995 with JongKook and JungNam and hit much success with ‘나 어릴적 꿈”(My Childhood Dream)’. JungNam was a DJ, rapper and in charge of choreography, while JongKook lent the sweet vocals. But the success was short lived when JungNam left the group due to differences with the company.
Thankfully, Turbo lived on when Mikey, a California resident came to audition for the group and won the spot out of 3500 others. In 2000, JongKook’s contract expired and he left the company and thus Turbo was no more.
Now, 15 years later, all three members are banding together and bringing Turbo back. Marked as one of the few groups in the million club (they have sold over a million copies of an album) from the 90s, their legacy is one that many guy groups, and even girl groups, look up to.
JongKook is the most renown of the three, though they have all been able to lead very successful lives due to Turbo’s influence. You can catch JungKook every week on the SBS variety show ‘Running Man’ where his castmates include actress Song JiHyo and actor Lee KwangSoo, MCs Ji SeokJin and Yoo JaeSuk, and musicians Kang Gary and HaHa. Speaking of KwangSoo, JungKook posted that his castmate and his best friend, actor Cha TaeHyun (‘Producer’), have made cameos in the new music video.

I am really looking forward to Turbo’s comeback, more so for the influence they had on the kpop music world and as a fan of ‘Running Man’. Are you looking forward to it as well? Tell us all about it!
