TVXQ’s U-Know Yunho (Jung Yun-ho) shared his African volunteering experience on November 13th at a press conference for KBS 1TV’s 2013 Hope Road (The Voice of Children). The event was hosted at the international conference room in Yeoido, Seoul. It was attended by Yunho, as well as Lee Bo Young and Kim Hyun Joo.
At the conference, Yunho spoke about going to Ghana and meeting deprived children. He served as an advocate by broadcasting their unfortunate circumstances. Yunho also spoke about getting close to the children. He stated, “I wanted to help children make good memories, so I decided to do a sporting event. When I asked what they wanted to play, most said soccer. Since I liked soccer too, we played together.” He continued with, “I brought a Polaroid camera with me to take pictures, along with some school supplies, since I heard they have shortage of those things. I gave out the Polaroid pictures to the children. Now that I’ve visited once, I have a better idea of what they need the most. I’m also thankful to my fans who want to help out as well.”
Since it first aired in 2010, Hope Road (The Voice of Children) program, helps celebrities volunteer in countries that are underdeveloped. They work in conjunction with locals to identify needs and raise awareness of major problems. Celebrities primarily assist by requesting donations. The 2013 Hope Road (The Voice of Children) programs followed five celebrities each with a separate episode appearance.
