On October 1st, mega girl group TWICE dropped the music video to their 1st ever full English single, ‘The Feels’. The single album of the same name also contains two remixes of the track, and the three instrumentals for all the versions. Debuting in 2015, the nonet rose to fame quickly from their massive hits ‘Cheer Up’ and ‘TT’. They have only gone from strength to strength as they matured, maintaining and tweaking their bubbly pop sound throughout their releases.
Lyrically, ‘The Feels’ talks about the rising and curious feelings people feel when they are in love. It rides the disco trend with a funky bass line that introduces the song in its opening moments. The poppy and catchy elements especially in the chorus sound classic to the group’s classic style. From a powerful vocal chorus, to the earworm of the lyrics ‘Boy I boy I boy I know’, the group have steered away from crafting a brand new sound to cater for western audiences, and instead stuck to their successful roots. This makes it a more commendable effort with the song coming natural and polished from them. Thus this introduces a wider audience to the group’s tracks without causing alienation with stark differences between their English, Korean or Japanese discography.

TWICE ‘THE FEELS’ MV:
Watching the music video, the girls are invited to prom. We see them in their massive dresser preparing for the big event and once reaching the school dance hall, they candidly enjoy the time there. The outfits in this MV hark back to the group’s earlier releases. Notably, the prom dresses are reminiscent of 2018’s ‘What is Love?’, the plaid attires pay homage to 2018’s ‘Yes or Yes’, and finally the cheerleader stage outfits look alike a sparkly and matured interpretation of 2016’s ‘Cheer Up’. The scene where the girls are preparing to dress up, as we see members come close up to the dressing table for makeup is also a reference to an identical set up to 2017’s ‘Likey’.
By the end of the MV, the camera zooms out onto a poster revealing some teasing details. The JYP Entertainment act appear to be dropping their 3rd full album sometime in November this year. This would only come 1 year after the group’s 2nd full album, ‘Eyes Wide Open’ featuring the hit single, ‘I Can’t Stop Me’. The poster also announces a 4th tour is incoming sometime soon. It is currently unknown if this will be a national or international tour. But regardless it means the girls will be getting ready to be on the road once again performing towards fans. This new title track has already reached #4 in the US iTunes charts marking their best charting to date there, so one can assume this English single will cause some attention headed towards them.
