Boy group U-KISS attended a baseball game in Japan on April 26th, proudly wearing their yellow ribbons in a show of support for the SEWOL victims and families.
The group was invited to attend the game at the Fukuoka Yafuoku Dome, where the professional teams, the SoftBank Hawks and the Seibu Lions, were playing against each other. They gave the first pitch of the game and addressed the crowd, expressing their sadness over the SEWOL ferry incident and asking those present to stay hopeful. The boys proudly displayed their ribbons and the Japanese fans gathered were touched by their actions.
U-KISS wore the ribbons of their own accord, without receiving consent from the stadium staff or broadcast station prior. In regards to this action, U-KISS’ agency stated the following, “We do feel sorry for not getting consent beforehand from the Japanese broadcast stations and from the staff of the stadium. We also feel the same towards the baseball fans who came to the stadium with a light heart. However, the members were able to receive strength from the baseball fans, the broadcast stations and the viewers who were watching the game as they all gave hope. We’re very thankful.”
