Ulala Session revealed that Im Yoon Taek, who died in February after a battle with cancer, left a trace on the group’s new album.
The late leader wrote lyrics for song titled ‘TAQ…Remember’ which is featured on Ulala Session’s new album ‘Memory.‘
Park Seung Il explained, “We decided that we should include sincere music to tell our own story, and the members agreed after much consideration that we should include this song.”
In the song, Im Yoon Taek expressed how much he dreamt of becoming a singer while listening to a cassette tape his mother had bought for him. It is an acoustic track, with a piano melody emphasizing the members′ sincere voices.
Park Seung Il added, “While he was preparing for his solo album, [Im] Yoon Taek hyung said he wanted to sing songs that fit him, rather than fit the R&B soul trend. It′s an antique that we could′ve sung for easily even when we were little, and we worked on it thinking we could emphasize its sincerity with our husky voices.”
He also talked about whether the group will use Im Yoon Taek’s materials he left behind, “There is a song that Yoon Taek hyung recorded for, but we′re trying to be careful about that. Since Yoon Taek hyung is no longer with us, we′re afraid it′ll look like we′re using him if we use the song.”
Ulala Session made a comeback on June 27th with their new album ‘Memory’ which is a tribute to Im Yoon Taek.
