Kim Taehyung, also known as V from BTS, has been confirmed for a new drama this summer called ‘Hwarang: The beginning’. The new drama from Oh Boy Pictures will air on KBS2 and is set to hit the small screen in the second half of this year. Oh Boy pictures has also brought us shows like ‘Flower Boy Ramyun Shop’, ‘Shut Up: Flower Boy Band’, and ‘Flower Boy Next Door’. Big Hit has released a statement confirming our Taehyung’s acting debut.
This new drama is the first ever to take place in the Silla dynasty which was over 1500 years ago. It tells the story of the Hwarang warriors of Silla, who were known to be extremely handsome, highly educated, elite aristocratic warriors. The name Hwarang literally means flower boy. Starring alongside Taehyung is, Park Seo Joon, Go Ara, ZE:A’s Park Hyung Sik, SHINee’s Choi Minho, and Do Ji Han.
It’s not been released what part Taehyung will be playing but we do know that Park Hyung Sik will be playing the role of King Jin Heung, Park Seo-joon is cast as a young man who is born into low social standing who rises above his circumstances and becomes a legendary Hwarang warrior, and Go Ara will play the love interest of the two young men.
