On August 4th, girl group WEEEKLY dropped the music video to their latest title track, ‘Holiday Party’. Featured on their accompanying 4th mini album, ‘Play Game : Holiday’, the EP was released simultaneously. The album features a total of five new tracks ready for everyone’s ears.
The song’s lyrics describe the stages of organizing and enjoying a party. From the planning and excitement of setting up the activities and sending invitations, to the partying up during the celebration itself, the tropical percussion settles well to convey this youthful mood. The girls sound great as usual, giving the track more freshness with their voices. The slightly paired back bridge allows for a spoken rap verse before the percussive elements return to bring the track to its addictive climax.

WEEEKLY ‘HOLIDAY PARTY’ MV:
Looking at the MV, it starts off with the girls enjoying various casual activities such as reading a book, or solving a jigsaw puzzle. A muffled version of their previous title track, ‘After School’ plays in the background. We enter the track upon a notification popping onto the girls’ laptop. Sifting through other pursuits like drawing, piñata hitting and Marco Polo, the girls settle around a table full of sweet treats as they celebrate during their own party. The MV ends with the group playing amongst the bubbles of an overflowed washing machine.
The whole video is covered with shades of pink in all the sets, matching perfectly with their cute girly image. The cuts of choreography sprinkled throughout show a slightly more powerful and chic side to their dancing, particularly during the chorus.
Their last comeback featured the hit title track, ‘After School’. Garner over 89 million views on YouTube, the Play M Entertainment group have plenty of expectations to meet as they recently past their 1st group anniversary. With their youthful cute image, they continue to break the trend of girl crush concepts frequently opted in K-Pop girl groups. It’s clearly paying off as they beat their personal best in 1st day sales for this comeback with the mini album selling over 10,000 copies.
