On October 14th, girl group WEEEKLY dropped their title track MV for ‘Zig Zag’. The track comes off their 2nd mini album, ‘We Can’. Check it out down below!
WEEEKLY ‘ZIG ZAG’ MV:
Lyrically, they sing about their inexperience in love and their constantly changing moods going up and down. The pop rock track has a refreshing sound unique in the current K-Pop music-scape. Their youthful vocals and high notes add lightness and general feel good vibe to the tune.
Moving on to the MV, it begins with individual shots of the members behind a bright ever changing CG backdrop. Opening her school locker, member Jieun faces a waft of confetti to the face before picking up a pamphlet for the bakery club. Throughout the video, we see each member join different clubs around the school. These include the baking, art, radio broadcasting, fencing and music clubs. Seven members together, they enter an ominously lit locker. Inside they see a transforming cube above before disappearing to reveal the group wearing striped group branded outfits. Here, the girl group perform the choreography whilst interacting with cube shaped ottomans.
The overall dance snippets we see show the Play M Entertainment group’s energetic performance. With the use of cubes, they add another point of interest with their routine. The MV finishes with them sitting on the ottomans making smiling expressions. Finally, in the credits we have a peek at the bloopers and behind the scenes of the music video.
Debuting in June earlier this year, they showcased their performing skills with their title track, ‘Tag Me’. Using tables and chairs as props, this new turn of using ottomans follows their trend of delivering unique details to their choreography. This mini album also is a continuation of their ‘We’ album series as they debuted with 1st mini, ‘We Are’.
Being the first girl group to promote from their company since APINK back in 2011, they exceeded expectations to become the best-selling rookie girl group in 2020 o far. Here’s hoping with this album, they will continue to soar to new heights.
WEEEKLY‘s 2nd mini album, ‘We Can’ featuring the title track ‘Zig Zag’ is available now.
