WEKI MEKI confidently show chic and ‘Cool’ charms in comeback MV!

On October 8th, girl group WEKI MEKI dropped the MV to their new title track, Cool’. Along side the single, they also released their 4th mini album ‘New Rules’. Check out the MV down below!

WEKI MEKI ‘COOL’ MV:

Lyrically, the group tell us they won’t follow the conventional rules; they will be whoever they want to be in their cool way. The song itself whilst maintaining the upbeat energy of previous title tracks, has a darker more abrasive tone. Featuring drum and bass and a sport whistle motif in its instrumental, the dance track is thus perfect for the club.

Examining the MV, it opens with some members with their heads resting still on a table. Looking confident, the eight members show their charismatic expressions throughout in various outfits. These include a head to toe white jacket and pant combo, loud printed crop tops with equally fierce pants and a set of chic black attires. To contrast the black, we also see the members sitting at the table now covered with an assortment of flowers and a feast.

Moving onto the other sets, the song’s choreography shines in all of them. There is a plain black set that highlights their white ensembles, also a plain white set with a painting with flowing volcano themed colours to match the loud garments. The dance routine shows off their upgraded image the best with a sharp synchronized performance. During the bridge, we see the members standing still as statues lining the sides of a dark corridors with spotlights on each member. Here their hands move cleanly to perform the precise movements together. The MV ends with the dance before cutting to a shot with the group posing in showy looks at the colourful table.

‘New Rules’ contains five tracks including an English version of the title tune. The group have now had three comebacks this year with the two promoted tracks of ‘Dazzle Dazzle’ and ‘Oopsy’ from the girl group’s earlier 3rd mini album, ‘Hide and Seek’. With an upgraded image, fans are excited to see what’s next in store for the Fantagio Music octet.
